Having experienced it firsthand, Dana knows how stressful it can be to search for the right care facility or solutions for a senior in crisis. When his father-in-law was diagnosed with cancer, his wife Dena spent countless hours assisting with the many decisions necessary for his treatment and wellbeing. Dana had similar experiences assisting with his own father when it became necessary to place him in a care facility. He understands it can be a stressful and overwhelming time for everyone involved. They often sought out someone that could assist them only to be told “we don’t have anyone that can do that for you.”
Dana decided to become a Senior Care Authority Advisor to help other families avoid these uncertainties and provide meaningful guidance during this stressful period.
My goal is to minimize the stress and uncertainty for seniors and their families who have decided it’s time to make a move.
Dana helps families find the best options for assisted living, independent living, memory care, residential care homes and skilled nursing facilities.
As a lifelong resident of Des Moines, Dana is well equipped to assist you through the process of visiting a selection of facilities based on your requirements, and support you in making the best, most informed decisions.
I will never take you to a place I haven't already visited and I always review reports produced by the state regarding citations and violations that have been issued.
Dana spends much of his time visiting and reviewing the area’s senior living options — including assisted living, independent living, memory care, and residential care homes — to help his clients make the best possible decision for their loved ones. He meets one-on-one with families to assess their needs and preferences. He will schedule and accompany the family on visits to locations that have the services and amenities that most closely match the requirements and wishes of the senior. Once the decision has been made, Dana will assist with negotiations and paperwork. He will follow up with the family after placement is made to ensure that everything is satisfactory and proceeding as planned.
When not striving to make a difference in seniors’ lives, Dana enjoys spending time with his family — and spoiling his grandson. They enjoy many of the activities available in the Des Moines Metro area including sporting events, concerts, plays, and the miles of wonderful bike trails.
Dana is always available to help with all the ancillary services related to senior care including: assistance with challenging transitions and decision-making, facilitating essential conversations between family members, home care agency or caregiver selections or connection to valuable, vetted resources for your loved ones in Central Iowa.
SENIOR CARE AUTHORITY COMPANY HISTORY
Senior Care Authority was founded in 2009 by Frank and Michele Samson of Sonoma, California. They opened a local placement agency and learned everything there was to know about finding the right care situation for an older adult needing help with activities of daily living. They came to the Senior Care space with successful business development skills in their past as well as personal family experience finding care solutions. The business took off, primarily due to their diligence, compassion, and commitment to helping families.
In 2014, the model was franchised and Senior Care Authority is now a national company with offices throughout the US and Canada. As part of their expansion, they partnered with an eldercare consulting practice who brought another set of senior care services and skills to the company, a great differentiator for Senior Care Authority.
